Students of Pangasia Government Primary School in Dumki upazila have been attending classes under the open sky for safety reason. The authorities have declared the school building abandoned for its dilapidated condition, forcing the some 150 students to attend classes in open space. Officials of upazila primary education office said they have sent written proposal to higher authorities on construction of new school building there. Local sources said the authorities concerned declared the school abandoned in 2013. The same year, the school management built a two-room tin shed. Only students of nursery class and class-I are accommodated in the tin shed. The students, attending the classes outside in the open, are battered by wind, cold and rain. Abdus Sobahan, president of the school management committee, said: “We have submitted application to Dumki upazila primary education office seeking remedy to the problem.” Dumki Upazila Primary Education Officer Monilal Sikder said a newly school building will be set up here after getting fund.
