UAE offers to set up hospital in Ctg

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) wants to establish a world-class hospital in Rangunia upazila of Chittagong, said its Ambassador yesterday. UAE Ambassador Dr Saeed bin Hajar Al Shehi conveyed the message during his meeting with Health Minister Mohammad Nasim at the latter’ s Secretariat office, reports UNB. The diplomat said Bangladesh and the UAE would jointly operate the hospital once it is built, according to a PID handout. An UAE engineering team has already visited the proposed site in Rangunia and sought support from the Health Minister to complete the necessary procedures for the construction of the hospital. The Ambassador also assured the Health Minister of UAE’s continued support for Bangladesh’s health sector development. Terming the UAE the trusted friend of Bangladesh, the Health Minister said the offer to establish a world-class hospital in Chittagong is a sign of long friendship between the two countries. He said the people of Bangladesh will be benefited if the hospital is built. “The UAE will also be benefited.” Nasim urged the Ambassador to provide employment opportunities for Bangladeshi doctors and nurses in the UAE, mentioning that many doctors and nurses earned reputation while working in various countries. The Health Minister also said the UAE can import Bangladeshi pharmaceutical products from Bangladesh. An organization under Arab Emirates Galf Pharmaceuticals Industries is working in Gazipur.
