Training on digital archive begins
A four-day workshop on digital preservation of archive materials started at National Archive Bhaban in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital. The Archive and Library Department organised the workshop as part of its ongoing endeavor for digitisation of the country's all important archives. Cultural Affairs Secretary Aktari Momtaz inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest while the department's director Obaydul Bari Chowdhury was in the chair.
Muktijuddha Jadughar trustee Mofidul Haque and Director General of Bangladesh National Museum Fayzul Latif Chowdhury spoke as the special guest. Two experts from the USA - Trudy Hump Paterson and Richard Pearce - will give training on digitalization of archival materials to 25 trainees from different museums and archives of the country.

One killed in Rajshahi road crash

A passenger was killed on the spot and five others injured when a bus dashed their auto-rickshaw in front of Rajshahi Airport on Rajshahi-Naogaon highway under Shahmukhdum Police Station in the city yesterday. The deceased was identified as Nupur Ali, 35, son of Shukur Ali of Shapura area under the same police station. The injured persons were rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) for treatment. Quoting locals Abdur Rouf, Officer-in-Charge of Shahmukhdum Police Station, said the accident occurred when a Rajshahi bound bus knocked down an auto-rickshaw carrying six persons coming from opposite direction around 12.30 pm.

2 arrested with 600 yaba tablets

Officials of the Narcotics Control Department (NCD) here in a raid arrested two persons with 600 yaba tablets from city's Bakalia area in Chittagong early yesterday. The arrested were identified as Sayed Mia, 35, and Marjina Begum, 20. Being informed, a team of NCD, Chittagong, raided a bus of S Alam Transport Service in city's Bakalia area under Bakalia thana and arrested them with the yaba tablets, Aslam Khan, Deputy Director of NCD, Chittagong Metropolitan Zone said. The yaba tablets were taking to Dhaka from Cox's Bazar, the NCD official said.
