During the second China International Import Expo (CIIE) from November 5th to 10th in Shanghai, Yunnan province established or deepened exchanges and cooperation with old friends as well as new contacts, sharing the opportunities brought by the CIIE.
On November 6th, Yunnan held a key industry investment c o op e r a t i o n a n d g l o b a l procurement promotion event at the CIIE, aiming to present its investment and business environment. The province signed a total of 20 agreements concerning investment, financial c o op e r a t i o n a n d i m p o r t procurement.
Chen J iankun, deputy general manager of Yunnan Wangchen Transportation Co Ltd, said that he had not only acquired information about cutting-edge logistics technology and equipment, but also got a sense of domestic consumers' strong demand for high-quality fresh food and other goods. He believed that the modern cold chain logistics sector would enjoy an expanding market.
This year, the Yunnan Health Commission sent a special trading group to the CIIE which consisted of representatives of 15 provincial-level hospitals and more than 150 medical institutions. They signed several purchase intention agreements with medical companies from the United States, the Netherlands, Germany and other countries. According to Wei Jia, director of the Second People's Hospital of Yunnan Province, his hospital placed several "large orders" at the CIIE. The latest medical information, technology and equipment will be of great help for future medical diagnosis, Wei said.
The Yunnan Cancer Hospital signed a cooperation agreement with the multinational Varian Medical Systems. Cao Shan, a representative of the hospital, said that considering Yunnan’s close proximity to South and Southeast Asian countries, its medical development would improve the medical level of the whole region, in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative.
The CIIE is an innovative event in the history of global trade, as well as a grand business gathering aimed at mutual benefit. This year’s CIIE was particularly rewarding for Yunnan, and the overseas companies that have signed agreements with Yunnan are looking forward to increased cooperation with the province. The Costa Group (Australia) has established berry planting bases in the province's Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture and Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture. On November 6th, they signed cooperation agreements with Yunnan concerning further projects. "Yunnan has broad prospects for agriculture," the president of Costa Group China said. He expressed his confidence in high-tech agricultural cooperation with the province. He said that the main advantages for developing agriculture are Yunnan's superior natural, cultural and economic conditions, as well as the strong policy support from the government.
