AFP, ABUJA: Two-time African champions Enyimba will represent Nigeria in next year’s CAF Champions League after they won a seventh Nigeria league championship at the weekend.
Enyimba, known as “The People’s Elephant” by fans, were held to a goalless draw by closest rivals Warri Wolves on Sunday to reach an unassailable 69 points in the Nigeria Premier League.
Despite playing a man short after forward Daniel Etor was sent off in the 50th minute for punching an opponent, the home team held out in front of a record 40,000 fans at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba, southeast Nigeria.
Enyimba last won the league in 2010.
