Srini-curse: Kamal
Former ICC and BCB president AHM Mustafa Kama

AHM Mustafa Kamal, the former ICC and BCB president welcomed the decision of BCCI to appoint its current president Shashank Manohar as the chairman of ICC replacing N Srinivasan, pointing out that the cricket’s globalization will going on its own course now.
According to him, Srinivasan wanted to stop cricket’s globalisation, making it centralised just to some of the countries which in the long run wouldn’t come good for the game.
Kamal who had bitter relationship with Srinivasan stated that the cricket is now free from Srinivasan-curse.
“He tried to split the cricket countries by his dictatorship role. BCCI took a very good decision to remove him. I welcome the decision,” Kamal told the reporters yesterday.
“He wanted to stop the globalisation of cricket, a very harmful decision that could sojourn of cricket’s ruthless progress. All of the cricket loving people wants to see the cricket’s globalisation.”
Kamal said that the members country of the ICC was against Srinivasan’s appointment as the ICC chairman.
“I firstly raised the name of Srinivasan as the ICC chairman but to my surprise, most of the member countries were against his appointment. I am the one who convinced the member
countries to support him.
It was wrong decision
which I got understood later,” Kamal claimed.
BCCI president Shashank Manohar is set to replace N Srinivasan for the remainder of the latter’s term as ICC chairman. Manohar will occupy the position till end of June next year. The BCCI also appointed former ICC president Sharad Pawar as the second nominee to attend ICC meetings in case Manohar was unavailable.
Kamal also claimed that N Srinivasan, who was withdrawn as ICC chairman by his country India, proposed him to stop the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) because of Indian interest.
According to Kamal, this incident sparked the clash of personality between the two which ended Srinivasan’s forceful decision to force Kamal step down as
ICC President.
Kamal resigned from the ICC president post following Bangladesh’s controversial loss to India as he claimed Srinivasan direct influenced the match officials to
design the plot of Bangladesh’s defeat.
“My fight was not against India. I have good rapport with India in fact. My clash was just with a single individual—Srinivasan whom I and the rest of the people think as harmful person for cricket,” he said.
“He asked me to stop the league as the income of IPL was decreased because of BPL. But I told him directly that BPL is popular among our country people so we can’t stop it.”
As Kamal didn’t comply with him, Srinivasan asked him to change the name of the tournament because the name ‘premier league’ direct affect the Indian Premier League (IPL).
“He then said to change the name of premier league as he claimed the right of premier is there because they firstly started the IPL. But I told him that the rights of premier league is ours because we started the Dhaka Premier League much earlier than they started the IPL. Even a player of India Raman Lamba played in the Dhaka Premier League,” Kamal added.
