An elephant stuck in mud for three days in Dulu forest beat area of Chattogram was rescued by the forest department. Md. Mozammel Haque Chowdhury, divisional forest officer of Chattagram south confirmed The Independent about the rescue. “A group of forest official including myself visited the spot on Saturday and rescued the elephant. But the female elephant was injured on the left leg. The elephant is very ill and we have given her medicine. I hope she will recover soon”. Local people told the forest official that the other elephants of the herd were still roaming in the area, apparently looking for the injured elephant. The local people said the elephant likely came down in Dulu forest beat area from Bandarban forests.
