Government officials and public representatives at a discussion have stressed on extending government services to physically challenged people for ensuring their rights, welfare and development. They expressed their opinion at a discussion, organised by Rangdhanu District Protibondhi Adhikar Sangstha (RDPAS) at Badarganj upazila parishad auditorium in municipal town on Friday, a press release said yesterday.
Access Bangladesh Foundation and Commonwealth Foundation extended assistance in arranging the event on ‘Promoting Rights of Grassroots’ Persons with Disabilities through Community-led Initiatives. President of RDPAS Saidar Rahman presided over the discussion meeting, participated by upazila level public representatives, government officials of different departments, disabled people, and civil society members.
Chairman of Badarganj upazila parisahd Fazle Rabbi Sweet attended the discussion as chief guest while its Vice-chairmen Tazul Islam and Nazma Jahanur spoke as special guests. Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Arshad Hossain, Upazila Youth Development Officer Borhan Rashid and Upazila Assistant Education Officer Shamim Akhter discussed various services being provided by their respective organizations to disabled population.
