The Ministry of Education has said that it’ll not take any action on its own following the ongoing movement at Jahangirnagar University unless it gets any specific allegation. “If there is any allegation with evidence, we will take action after investigation. But the environment of the university should not be destabilised. We don’t allow it,” said Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel.
He came up with the statement during a press briefing yesterday at the International Mother Language Institute in the capital over the ongoing impasse at Jahangirnagar University following the movement of teachers and students against alleged misappropriate of funds meant for campus development work by its Vice-Chancellor Farzana Islam.
“A university is an abode of knowledge. It’s an autonomous institution. It has its own structure. We cannot interfere in its affairs. But if we get any specific allegation, we would look into it,” the deputy minister said.
