Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan Papon said they have nothing to do regarding Shakib Al Hasan’s recent two-year suspension slapped by International Cricket Council (ICC) for not reporting to ICC’s anti-corruption unit (ACU) of being approached of a bookmaker in three times in 2018. But the BCB president also said if he takes his own initiatives to reduce his suspension, the board will help him with their highest level of cooperation.
It was earlier told from the board that they will seek legal advice from its legal department to reduce Shakib’s suspension period further. BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury then said they have an obligation to do for Shakib on his matter. But if there is any such chance, they will of course try to capitalize it. It will be got to know after taking legal advice is there anything to do for him what Papon told about it yesterday.
“Actually BCB has nothing to do regarding Shakib’s matter. It’s not possible for the board despite having their wishes and taking any initiative rather it might be worse than better,” said Nazmul Hassan Papon. But he has assured that if Shakib takes initiative, they will help him over the matter.
“If Shakib seeks cooperation from the board, they will give him all kinds of supports. It will be settled to sit with BCB Anti-corruption unit and legal committee what are their obligations to this end,” Papon also said.
