HC asks to arrest five including a Chinese national

The High Court (HC) yesterday directed the authorities concerned of the government to arrest five including one Chinese national over around Tk 2.60 crore loan scam in National Bank. The HC bench also asked to seize the passports of them and ordered Special Judges Court-5 of Dhaka to dispose of the case within six months.
The accused are: Abdul Wadud Khan, National Banks former senior vice-president, Chinese national Yong Wang Chung, chairman of The Sinfa Nitas Limited, Khasru Al Rahman, managing director of the company, Monsurul Haque, its director, and Md Golam Mustafa, another director of the company.
The HC bench comprising Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukdar and Justice KM Hafizul Alam came up with the order after rejecting a petition filed by Shahabuddin Chowdhury, former executive vice-president of National Bank, for quashing the graft case.
The accused opened The Sinfa Nitas Limited company with fake documents and took a loan of Tk 2.60 crore from National Banks Dilkusha branch in the name of the company. Later, they did not repay the loan.
On June 17, 2017, Deputy Director of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Jahangir Hossain filed a case with Motijheel Police Station accusing six people in this connection.
The ACC submitted a charge sheet in the case on June 24, 2018.
The case is now pending with Special Judges Court-5 of Dhaka.
Advocate Abdul Matin Khasru appeared for the petitioner while Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan represented the ACC while Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik represented the state during yesterdays proceedings.
