Saima murder case
Charge sheet filed against accused

Detective branch (DB) of police has filed charge sheet against sole accused Harun-ur Rashid in Waris Samia Afrin Saima murder case. Investigation officer and DB inspector Md Arjun filed the charge sheet on November 5 at Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate court. Earlier on October 29, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mainul Islam set November 20 to submit probe report in the case filed over rape and subsequently murder of seven-year-old Saima in capitals Wari area on July 5. Saimas father Abdus Salam filed the case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Wari Police Station on July 6 and police on July 7 managed to arrest killer Harun-ur Rashid from Cumilla. Saima, nursery-grade student of Silverdale School went missing after going out to play on the afternoon of July 5.

Prosecution arguments continues

The prosecution in the case lodged over horrific militant attack at the capitals Holey Artisan Bakery in 2016, is continuing placing their arguments in the trial. Judge Md Mujibur Rahman of Dhaka Anti-terrorism Special Tribunal adjourned the hearing till today as state counsel Golam Sarwar Zakir failed to conclude his arguments yesterday. Earlier on October 27, testimonies of the prosecution witnesses came to an end, as the special tribunal examining 113 out of total 211 witnesses. Militants killed 20 innocent people, most of them foreigners, in the attack carried out on July 1, 2016. Two police officials valiantly laid down their lives while trying to save people there. Later, five militants were killed in a commando operation. Police filed the case under the anti-terror act with Gulshan Police Station.
