A schoolboy was killed and at least seven others were injured after a four-storey building collapsed in Baburail area of Narayanganj city yesterday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Shoeb, 7. Aslam Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Fatullah Police Station confirmed the incident to The Independent. Two of the residents of the building might have been trapped inside the building, said the OC. A team of fire service and rescue department has reached the spot and started rescue drive, mentioned the police official. Abdullah Arefin, deputy assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence in Narayanganj, said the building suddenly collapsed on a canal adjacent to the building around 4:00pm. On information, a team of firefighters rushed to the spot and rescued four people from the building, he told media. One of them, who sustained injuries, was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), he added. Locals said that at least two person were still confined in the building while the death toll may rise further.
