ACC confiscates BNP leader Falu’s Tk 343cr wealth

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday confiscated wealth worth Tk 343 crore belonging to BNP leader Mohammad Mosaddak Ali Falu. ACC Deputy Director Gulshan Anowar Prodhan seized the wealth following a court order, said ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee to the reporters. On May 13, the Commission filed a case against the former member of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s advisory council under Money Laundering Prevention Act on charge of siphoning off Tk 183.92 crore to Dubai.

During the case investigation, the anti-graft body found another Tk 343 crore wealth allegedly accumulated illegally by him, the ACC official said. According to the ACC, it was found that Mosaddak along with three other businessmen opened offshore companies — Al Madina International Ltd, Tri Star Ltd and Development EUE — in Dubai in 2010.

By doing so, they allegedly siphoned off Tk 183.92 crore, amassed through illegal means, from the country.

The Commission also said it froze Mosaddak’s shares of Roza Properties Limited, Rakeen Development Company BD Ltd, Roza Entertainment FZE Limited, Roza Investment LLC Limited and one of his accounts with the Kawran Bazar branch of IFIC Bank Limited.

ACC earlier confiscated 22.53 decimal commercial plot worth Tk 50 crore situated in the capital’s Kakrial area.
