Killing of unborn baby protested

A Hindu outfit yesterday staged a protest in the city against the assault of a pregnant woman by Awami League cadres. The assault eventually led to the death of the unborn child in Feni on October 27. The outfit, Jago Hindu Parishad, said hooligans belonging to the ruling party had attacked houses, shops and business establishments of Hindus at Mathiara village in Feni district’s Pachgasia Union. One Tulsi Rani Das, who was seven-month pregnant, was brutally assaulted. She subsequently gave birth to a dead baby on the spot amid severe bleeding, parishad leaders said. In protest, the outfit held a rally and human chain in front of the National Press Club. Speakers on the occasion demanded immediate arrest of all those involved in the incident and a fair trial. They also urged the government to ensure the security of minorities.
