Semifinals and final match date rescheduled

Ctg Abahani face Gokulam in first semis today

The schedule of semifinals and the final match of Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup football tournament have been deferred for a day each. The first semifinal between the hosts Chittagong Abahani Limited and the Sree Gokulam FC of India will take place today and the second semifinal will be held tomorrow with Mohun Bagan AC taking on Terengganu FC of Malaysia.

According to a fresh schedule, the final will take place on October 31 instead of 30 when both the semifinals and the final match will be held at 7pm at the MA Aziz Stadium.  

Tarafdar Rushul Amin, the chief coordinator of the tournament and in fact the main man of the tournament, explained the reason of reschedule to the reporters yesterday.

Tarafdar, also the chairman of the Chittagong Abahani Limited when went to Bandar play ground to watch the team’s (Ctg Abahani) practice, said that it was just situation demand to make a reschedule for the final.

“As we chalked out the fixture of the tournament earlier with considering the foreign teams’ domestic schedule, specially the Mohun Bagan and the Gokulam FC of India, who were agreed to participate on condition that they could stay here up to October 30.”

“As their I-League deferred for few days, so they have no problem if the date of final differed for one day, this is the only reason of reschedule,” said Tarafdar.

Tarafdar, who also talking about the tournament said, “I am happy to watch the excitement of crowds at the stadium.”

“In fact if you organised a standard tournament and can present good football then fans must be gathered in the stadium. I think this time we invited the teams are very strong. Team like Mohun Bagan, one of the traditional football club in the sub-continent, who have craze in our country also, Gokulam FC also from India a strong side, who won the Durand Cup defeating top teams of India, Trengganu FC from Malaysia, you saw they demonstrated very impressive performance.”

 “Our objective is going to be success day by day as we want to acquaintance Sheikh Kamal to the world through this tournament,” said Tarafdar.
