Four held over kidnapping girl

Four abductors were arrested while kidnapping a college girl on Saturday evening from Badhukamola Sahapara point on the Sahebganj-Chankuthi road under Haragachh Thana of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP).
The abductors were held while they were kidnapping the girl, a first-year student of Haragachh Government College, by a microbus after forcing her to get down from an auto-rickshaw from the spot, a press release of RpMP said yesterday.
The arrested kidnappers are Sukur Ali, 19, Alam Hossain, 22, and Nasim Mahmud Nahid, 19, of village Sarai New Kazipara Koshaitari and microbus driver Monarul Islam, 23, of village Dhumerkuthi Pashchimpara under Haragachh Thana of RpMP.
During primary interrogation, the arrested persons admitted that they were hired by one Asaduzzaman Shuvo, 22, of Hajipara Moholla in Haragachh municipality for abducting the girl and taking her to him.
Shuvo had been stalking the girl and proposed her to have an affair with him, since she was a student of class nine. Being refused constantly, Shuvo decided to abduct the girl and hired the arrested youths for the purpose, said Officer-in-Charge (OC-Investigation) of Haragachh Thana of RpMP Mofazzal Haque. Mother of the victim of village Chankuthi of the same area filed a case in this connection with Haragachh Thana of RpMP.
Missing youth found dead

Police recovered the body of a young man, who went missing on Saturday evening, from the Gomti River in Burichang upazila on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Ali, 23, son of Joynal Abedin of Chanpur village in Debidwar upazila.
Sub-inspector Shahin Alam of Devpur Police Outpost in Burichang said Ali went missing on Saturday evening.
Locals spotted his floating body inside an embankment along the river in the morning and informed police, he said.
