Entrepreneurs of the handloom and apparel industry have demanded establishing heritage museums at the divisional level to preserve the handloom, apparel, handmade and craft products.
They made the demand at the closing function of four-day ‘Heritage Handloom Festival 2019’ at a hotel in the capital on Saturday, said a press release yesterday.
Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun attended the function as the chief guest while Managing Director of SME Foundation Md Shafiqul Islam was in the chair.
Association of Fashion Designers of Bangladesh (AFDB) President Mantasha Ahmed delivered the welcome speech while Industries Secretary Md Abdul Halim, Cultural Affairs Secretary Dr Mohammad Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal and Information Commissioner Suraiya Begum attended the function as special guests.
In his speech, Humayun said due to lack of proper promotion, the country could not take the advantage of huge demand for Bangladeshi handmade and craft products in the international market. For taking the export advantages, he emphasised on arranging permanent exhibition in all Bangladesh embassies across the world.
