Aniket Bhattacharya stood first among the 8000 participants in the ‘Adammay Jersey Design Contest’ while he won a trophy and received Taka five lakhs as prize money yesterday. Robi, a private cellular phone company, organised an open contest for the jersey design of Bangladesh national cricket team where 8000 competitors from across the country took part in the competition.
Led by distinguished artist Mostafa Monwar, eight judges after a huge scrutiny sorted out top 11 and from that Aniket Bhattacharya was adjudged the number one. Nazmul Hassan Papon, president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) handed over the trophy and prize money to Aniket in a colorful ceremony at the Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon in the capital on Thursday. Later the BCB president unveiled the new jersey of Bangladesh Besides Nazmul Hassan, CEO of Robi, Mahtabuddin Ahmed also addressed in the occasion.
Apart from the Bangladesh national team’s players, BCB CEO Nizamuddin, BCB officials, CEO of the ICC David Richardson, players of Zimbabwe team were present. Richardson, who is in Bangladesh to observe the security order, while talking to the reporters he said, “In all over the world more or less there have security jeopardy.”
“We are here to assess the position in Bangladesh and we have also collected some preliminary information. We will talk to the security agents and will submit the final report,” said Richardson. Richardson during his brief conversation with the media praised about the development of cricket in Bangladesh. “It is very appreciated that Bangladesh made a huge improvement in the game.”
