2 held over fraud in CU intake test

Police yesterday arrested two members of a fraud gang along with four smart watches and mobile phone sets for supplying answers to admission seekers in admission test via SMS (Short Messaging Service) during examination of E unit (Law) at Chittagong University. The arrestees were identified as Md Kamrul Islam, 27, hailing from Kisoreganj district, and Md Imran Hossain, 19, a resident of Hathazari of Chittagong. Kamraul Islam is a student of the International Relations department of Dhaka University, said police. Acting on tip-off, Kamrul was arrested from Shamsunnahar Hall area along with four smart watches. During the examination, Imran was caught red handed while doing fraud in examination through mobile phone SMS, said Mohammad Naimul Hasan, additional superintend of police (Special Branch) of Chittagong district. Quoting the arrestees, Naimul Hasan said they were using smart watch, bluetooth, headphones and many small devices for forgery in the examinations. They tactfully sent these devices to the examinees, and then they collected the questions from the hall by a dummy examinee and solved the questions then sent the answers of the questions to the admission aspirants in the test halls. They use the device not only for university examinations but also for many other examinations like those of bank recruitment and teachers appointment.
