Four detained over forgery

A mobile court awarded two admission seekers one months jail each on charge of cheating through mobile phones in the Gha unit admission test of Dhaka University (DU) held yesterday. The mobile court led by executive magistrate Sarwat Mehjabin arrested Abdus Salam from Sher-E-Bangla Nagar Government Boys High School and another Jubaidul Islam from Motijheel Government Girls High School when they were giving answers to the questions taking those over mobile phones, said DU Proctor Amzad Ali. The detained students were given the punishment as per the Public Examination Act 1980, he said. On the other hand, police on Thursday night detained Miton, a student of the DU Geography and Environmental sciences department, and a outsider named Pavel for their alleged involvement in the question paper leak in the Gha unit admission test. Proctor Amzad Ali said that the arrestees were trying to make a deal with people for supplying admission test question paper. Earlier in the morning, the admission test of Gha unit of Dhaka University for the first year honors courses for the 2015-2016 academic session was held. The hour-long admission test was held at 87 centres at 10am simultaneously. A total of 90,130 admission seekers took part in the examination against 1,465 seats. Meanwhile, the admission test for the first year BSC-Engineering and Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning (BURP) courses in Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) under 2015-16 academic year was held yesterday, reports BSS. KUET sources said a total of 7,576 admission seekers attended the entry test for 875 seats in 11 departments under BSC Engineering and BRUP courses. The result of entry test will appear on November 12, said Vice-chancellor of KUET Mohammed Alamgir . The result will be posted on KUET website ([email protected]) and notice board.
