One dies of dengue, 143 hospitalised

UNB, Dhaka

A young man has died of dengue in Khulna while 143 more people have been infected with the mosquito-borne disease across the country. The new death was recorded yesteday evening while the fresh infections in 24 hours till Tuesday morning. The deceased was identified as Sajib Khan, 22, son of Sayeed Khan of Putibari area of Gopalganj Sadar upazila. Dr Sailendranath Biswash, resident physician of Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH), said Sajib was admitted to the KMCH around 12pm today and he died around 6pm. Of the newly detected dengue patients, 79 were hospitalised in Dhaka. Directorate General of Health Services in a regular update said a total of 104 people died from dengue in the country since January.
