Khaleda calls for national dialogue
Khaleda Zia

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday called upon the government to create an atmosphere for a national dialogue to overcome the country’s current crisis in the interest of the nation, reports UNB.
In a statement, she said, “Under the current critical juncture of the country, create an environment for initiating a national dialogue to get rid of the crisis, shunning despotic attitude and not blocking the scope for flourishing democracy for the sake of the nation.”
Khaleda said he party has called for a national unity and an all-party meeting to surmount the current situation of the country as the party always gives priority to the interests of the country and its people. “I’ve repeatedly called for the national dialogue with sincerity to end the national crisis, but though unfortunate it is truth that the government is yet to pay heed to our demand,” Khaleda bemoaned.
The BNP chief alleged that an anarchic situation has been created in the country as the current regime, which imposed its rule on the country’s people like a heavy stone after assuming office through a so-called and manipulated election, is trying to perpetuate its power. “This situation is an ominous sign for the country, its people and democracy.”
Accusing the ruling party of practicing vindictive politics, she said the party has become isolated from people for its intolerant attitude. “The government can’t realise it.”
Mentioning that BNP is a democratic party, Khaleda said her party does not support any type of extremism. “Our party’s stance against any form of violence is very clear.”
But, she alleged that the government is making its evil efforts to brand a political party like BNP as a terrorist party. The former Prime Minister claimed that the government’s negative campaign against her party was not accepted either at home or abroad and will not be accepted anytime. “Instead, the government’s fascist attitude is being exposed more clearly.”
