Staff Reporter

Special taskforce of Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC) has detected a massive forgery in issuance of demand note for an electric connection and installation of meter in a building at Jurain in the capital. During a drive on Wednesday, the special taskforce led by its chief Md. Munir Chowdhury, also secretary of DPDC, found an eight-storey building in Jurain with all fake connections consuming about 60KW load, according to DPDC sources. The taskforce against prevention of pilferage and tax evasion seized a fake meter with 83,000 units of electricity consumed; with no billing done. Five fake demand notes were found also there with all the signatures of the DPDC and bank officials, which were suspected to have been forged, said a senior official of DPDC.
