Science debating competition held at Manarat Dhaka International School

A science debating competition was held at the Manarat Dhaka International School and College in the capital on Monday.
The National Science and Technology Museum (NMST) organised the competition.
This competition is organised to raise awareness among the students on how to protect marine resources through the use of technology in the current crisis of environmental destruction around the world. Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, director of NMST said the country’s economy will be ruined if we will not aware of sea protection. Sea is the base of immense biodiversity and mineral resources. “People are indiscriminately destroying the sea by dumping millions of tons of plastic. The innovation of science and technology must be utilized to protect this resource,” he said.
Freshers’ reception, orientation programme held at SEU

Freshers’ Reception and Orientation Programme of the newly admitted students of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) Department under the School of Science & Engineering of Southeast University (SEU) was held on Sunday in the capital, says a press release.
Prof Dr ANM Meshquat Uddin, Vice-chancellor of SEU, chaired the programme while Md Rashedul Islam, additional secretary, Information and Communication Technology Division was the chief guest. Maj Gen Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed (Retd), registrar of SEU welcomed newly enrolled students. Shahriar Manzoor, chairman of CSE Department introduced faculty members to the students. Prof Dr AFM Mafizul Islam, adviser to BoT and head of BoT office also addressed the programme. Among others, faculty members, officials, newly enrolled students and their guardians were present in the programme.

World River Day observed at SUB

World River Day is being observed every year on the last Sunday of September. This year’s theme is - 'River is a living entity, ensure its legal rights'.
To observe the day, Stamford University Bangladesh in collaboration with Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA) and Water Keepers Bangladesh organised a seminar titled ‘Halda River as a Living Entity: Context Analysis and Its Inquisition’ on Saturday at the auditorium of Department of Architecture of the university, says a press release.
Saniya Tabassum Zhumur, assistant professor, along with a group of students from the Department of Architecture, presented the keynote paper while Professor Dr Ahmed Kamruzzaman Mojumder, chairman, Department of Environmental Science, Stamford University Bangladesh, inaugurated the programme followed by an exhibition to mark the day.
