An investigation team from International Cricket Council (ICC) led by its chief executive David Richardson arrived in Dhaka yesterday. The delegation will be led by ICC Chief Executive, David Richardson, and will also include ICC Head of Events, Chris Tetley, and ICC security consultants. Both Nizam Uddin Chowdhury, CEO of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and its security chief Major (retd) Hossain Imam acknowledged the matter and said that they have landed Dhaka this evening.
“ICC delegation came in Dhaka to check out the entire preparation of the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup that Bangladesh will host in between January 22 to February 14 next year,” Nizam Uddin said over phone. Bangladesh will host the mega event for the youth for the second time after a long 11-year hiatus with the participation of 16 teams including ICC full Test members and six other teams from associate members.
A total of five teams who have come through five regional tournaments are Afghanistan, Canada, Fiji, Namibia and Scotland, while Nepal came from the six-team tournament of Ireland, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Uganda and USA. The country had organised the event last time in 2004 while Bangladesh had to pacify with plate championship.

It was not too the distant past, Bangladesh cricket was on a continuous losing streak. The team was struggling in finding its feet firmly in international cricket despite there were some outstanding performers…
