10th convocation of BRAC University today
The 10th convocation of BRAC University (BRACU) will be held at  Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC), Agargaon, Dhaka today from 2 pm, says a press release. President Md Abdul Hamid and Chancellor of BRAC University, will preside over the convocation ceremony.
A total of 959 degree recipient will receive their degrees in this 10th convocation of BRAC University.
Prominent Journalist and Editor of the Daily Prothom Alo Matiur Rahman will deliver the commencement speech as convocation speaker. Founder and Chairperson of BRAC and also Chairperson, Board of Trustees (BoT), BRAC University, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, KCMG and Professor Syed Saad Andaleeb, Vice Chancellor of BRAC University will be present and address the ceremony.

CVASU honours admission test Nov 7
CHITTAGONG: The admission test for the first-year honours courses at Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) under 2015-2016 academic sessions will be held on November 7.
The decision came in an meeting of the CVASU admission committee chaired by its Vice-chancellor Gautom Buddo Das on Monday, said CVASU Deputy Director (public relations and protocol) Khalilur Rahman.
The admission test will be held on the CVASU campus on November 7 on Saturday at 11am, he said. Details of the admission test, seat allocation are available on the university website: www.cvasu.ac.bd. CVASU will enroll a total of 210 students in its three faculties for the academic session 2015-2016.

BU admission test begins Nov 27
BARISAL:  The admission tests for the first year honours courses of Barisal University for the academic session 2015-16 will begin November 27.
A total of 27,563 admission seekers will participant in the intake tests against 1,300 seats under six faculties. This year 21 admission seekers will vie for each seat.
Md Faysal Mahmud Rumi, public relations officer of BU, said admission committee of BU held a meeting yesterday and finalized the other preparation of admission tests after scrutiny the applications.
The detailed information would also be available on the website of the university as www.barisaluniv.edu.bd and www.barisaluniv.ac.bd with regular updates and seat plans, Rumi added.

Japan to provide more scholarships to DU students
Japanese Ambassador in Dhaka Masato Watanabe yesterday said the Japanese government will provide more scholarships to Dhaka University students for higher study in Japan.
He said the friendly ties between Bangladesh and Japan have been prevailing for long.
Masato Watanabe said this while addressing the orientation programme for the Masters 12th Batch students of the Japan Study Centre (JSC) of Dhaka University (DU) as the chief guest held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.
JSC Director Prof Abul Barkat presided over the function while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Nasreen Ahmad addressed it as special guest. Watanabe called for strengthening this bilateral relationship between the two countries. He thanked the Japan Study Centre of DU for playing an effective role in promoting Japanese history, culture and education.

Int’l confce on electrical & electronics at RUET
RAJSHAHI: A three-day international conference on Electrical and Electronic Engineering (ICEEE)-2015 began in Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) yesterday, reports BSS.
The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of RUET organised the ICEEE in order to take the technological growth one step forward as engineering and technology play a pivotal role in the development of today's world.
The conference is expected to provide a highly interactive platform in which leading experts and researchers in the field of electrical and electronic engineering can discuss recent scientific advances and seek cooperation from all over the world.
Professor Emeritus in Raucous University in Japan Yeosinori and RUET Vice Chancellor Rafiqul Alam Beg jointly opened the conference as chief guests. Prof Yeo Jeo from Huajong Science and Technology in China and Prof Subir Kumar Sarker were present on the occasion as special guests.
More than eight renowned professors from the USA, Australia, China, Malaysia and India are joining the conference. Besides, a large number of students and professionals from home and abroad are taking part.

UIU launches Institutional Quality Assurance Cell
The inaugural ceremony of Institutional Quality Assurance Cell of UIU was held at United International University (UIU) recently, says a press release.
Chowdhury  Mofizur Rahman, pro-vice chancellor, United International University (UIU), presided over the ceremonies while  Mesbahuddin Ahmed, Head, Quality Assurance Unit (QAU), UGC, was the chief guest and Sanjoy Kumar Adhikary, QAU Specialist, UGC was the special guest at the programme.
The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of UIU organised the event. A total of 250 teachers and administrative officers took part in the inaugural ceremony.
The chief guest stressed on ensuring the quality of tertiary education to face global Challenges in the 21 century.
The speakers urged the faculty members to work hard for upgrading their teaching capacity and area of knowledge by finding out their own lacks through self criticism.
Director of IQAC Khawza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed delivered welcome speech, while Additional Director Mohammad Tohidul Islam Miya gave vote of thanks.


Debate competition held
The Annual Debate Competition-2015 of Daffodil International College (DIC) was held at DIU Auditorium on Thursday, says a press release.
The program has been presided by Md Zamshedur Rahman, principal of DIC. In the ceremony, Junayed Ahmed Halim, chairman, Department of Film and Television, Jagannath University, was the chief guest. Mohammad Nuruzzaman, executive director, DEN gave his valuable advice to the students.
