Juba League Executive Committee on Sunday suspended its Dhaka south unit chief Ismail Hossain Samrat and Vice-President Enamul Haque Arman for their ‘unsocial and anti-party activities’. A press release signed by Juba League’s Education Affairs Secretary Mizanul Islam Mizu announced the decision hours after Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested the duo in Cumilla. Lt Col Sarwar Bin Kashem, director of Rab’s legal and media wing, said Samrat and Arman were arrested from Chauddagram upazila around 5am “on specific allegation”. On September 24, the government imposed a travel ban on Samrat. Law-enforcers in recent weeks have launched a crackdown on illegal casinos, arrested dozens of political leaders and activists and also raided various clubs.
