1 held with 2,280 yaba tablets

Security forces of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) detained a man with 2,280 yaba tablets during checking at the domestic terminal of the airport on Friday evening. The detainee was Md Shakil Miah, 25, son of Shahaj-Uddin hailed from Dumni area under Khilkhet thana in the capital. He was detained as yaba tablets were recovered from him, said Alamgir Hossain Shimul, additional superintendent (ops and media) of Members of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn).
Shakil was the passenger of a BS-146 flight of US Bangla Airlines which landed Dhaka airport at around 6 pm on Thursday from Cox’s Bazar, he added.
A case was filed with concerned police station.
2 killed in Barishal road accident

Two people were killed as a private car hit a three wheeler on Dhaka-Barishal highway in Kashimpur area of the city yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Hashem, 40, son of Mizan Jomaddar of Kashimpur, and Saleha Begum, 55, wife of Abdur Rob Hawlader of Airport Police Station area.
Zahid Bin Alam, officer-in-charge of Airport Police Station, said the car rammed the battery-run three wheeler around 9 am near Kashipur Bazar , leaving Abdur and Saleha severely injured.
Locals took them to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College (SBMC) Hospital where doctors declared them dead, the OC added.
4,892 cases filed over traffic irregularities in capital

The traffic division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed a total of 4,892 cases for violating traffic rules in the capital yesterday.
Police at the time fined the traffic offenders Taka 20, 50,300 and sent 28 vehicles to dumping ground. Apart from this, a total of 529 vehicles were sent for wrecking.
A total of 173 vehicles were sued for using hydraulic horns, three vehicles for using hooters and beacon lights, 710 vehicles for moving into the wrong way and 11 microbuses were booked for using black glasses on windows, said a DMP press release yesterday.
Cases were also filed against 1,483 motorcycles for violating traffic rules and 112 more were seized.
A total of six drivers were also booked for talking on mobile phones while driving, added the DMP press release.
