OUR CORRESPONDENT, RU

At least 58 teachers of pro-Awami League teachers under the banner of ‘Muktijhuddher Chatona O Mulllohbodhe Bisshashi Progotisheel Shikkhok Samaj’ in a statement demanded resignations of the university Vice-chancellor Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan for his remark of ‘Jay Hind’ and Pro vice chancellor Prof Dr Chawdhury Md Zakaria for his alleged involvement with irregularities in job recruitment. Teachers gave the statement on Friday.  In the statement they said, “India is our neighbour and our good friend. Indian government also helped us during Liberation War. But as an independent country, vice chancellor cannot say ‘Jay Hind’ after saying Jay Bangla and Jay Bangabandhu”.

“By his remark he abused Bangabandhu and our country, that’s why we demand the resignation of vice chancellor Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan” the statement said. Pro-VC Dr Chawdhury Md Zakaria is taking bribes by giving job which is unethical. We condemned the incident and demand his resignation and he has no ethical rights to hold respective post of the university”, the statement further added.

The statement also added that “Due to corruption, securing CGPA 3.86 is being failed to get job here but son-in-law of vice chancellor got job securing under CGPA 3.25 and even son-in law of pro-vice chancellor got job instead of gold medalist candidate” On the other hand, convener of ‘Muktijhuddher Chetona O Mulllobodhe Biswashi Progotisheel Shikkhak Samaj’ Prof Dr Mujibur Rahman said, “The statement of 58 teachers to media is not our party’s statement and we have no connection with them.”

“A group of teachers are trying to creating anarchy on the peaceful campus by using banner of ‘Muktijhuddher Chetona O Mulllobodhe Biswasi Progotisheel Shikkhak Samaj’ and they are giving statement against liberation war and if they create any untoward situation, our party will take action against them for their activities”, he warned.
