India reiterated its commitment to take relations with Bangladesh to “the next higher level” as its External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday. “Jaishankar reaffirmed India’s highest priority to its relations with Bangladesh,” said Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar in a Tweet message after the meeting. Quoting Jaishankar, Raveesh Kumar said the Indian External Affairs Minister had a very warm conversation with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen, Foreign Affairs Adviser to Prime Minister Dr. Gawher Rizvi, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam and Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali were present during the meeting. Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das and Senior Indian External Affairs Ministry accompanied Dr. Jaishankar at the meeting.
