Chawkbazar fire case probe report on Nov 7

A court here yesterday set November 7 for submitting probe report in the case filed over devastating fire in capitals Chawkbazar on February 20. Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Qaisarul Islam set the date as investigation officer failed to submit the report yesterday. A total of 71 people were killed and many more injured in the fire, which was originated from a building named Wahed Mansion. A local named Asif filed the case with Chawkbazar police station for causing loss of lives and properties by fire caused by negligence. According to the case documents, two owners of Wahed Mansion, Md Hasan and his brother Sohel alias Shahid rented their house as godown of chemical and flammable materials for making extra profit, in spite of knowing about the risk of fire accidents.
45 detained Rohingyas sent to jail

A Chattogram court sent detained 45 Rohingya men, who fled from refugee camps in Coxs Bazar to jail yesterday. The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Kamrunahar Rumi sent them to jail after Mohammad Shamim, officer in charge (Investigation) of Sitakunda Thana produced them before the court as the intruders. The 45 Rohingya men were detained from a house at Keshobpur village under Sitakunda upazila of the district on the night of October 1. Mohammad Delwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sitakunda police station, said police in a drive detained these men from a rented house of one Mubarak Hossain. They fled from the camps in Ukhiya upazila, came to Sitakunda upazila and worked in a factory as day labourers, OC said.
