Protest on demanding resignation of VC, pro-VC

A group of teachers and students of Rajshahi University (RU)yesterday continued their protest programme on the campus demanding removal of its vice-chancellor for his alleged controversial remark ‘Jay Hind’ after saying ‘Jay Bangla and Jay Bangabandhu’ and Pro vice chancellor for publishing an audio record clip over recruitment irregularities.  

Marking the programme, teachers of the campus  formed a human chain in front of university senate building under the banner of ‘Teacher Society’.  The protest programme has been started since  September 29. After the both incidents a group of teachers, students and different organisations have protested it by organising different progarmmes like lighting candle, processions, rallies, human chains, demonstrations, giving statements. Besides, pro-BNP teachers forum also gave statement demanding resignation of VC and Pro VC. In the yesterday’s programme, former chief of PIB (Press Institute of Bangladesh) Dr Dulal Chanda Biswas, professor of mass communication and journalism dept, said, “Journalists are being failed to publish true and objective news due to barrier from the university”.

“We condemned their activities on the campus” he added. Prof Dr Sujith Kumar of Bangla dept said, “Honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina declared zero tolerance against corruption but university administrations are continuing to do this”. We, all, know that a audio record went viral in social media. “Form his audio clip, it is clear to us that pro vice chancellor Prof Dr Chawdhury Md Zakaria are taking bribes by giving job which is unethical. I condemned the incident and demand his resignation and he has no ethical rights to hold respective post on the university.”
