Probe report in graft case against DIG Mizan, Basir Nov 11

A court here yesterday set November 11 for submitting probe report in a case lodged against suspended deputy inspector general (DIG) of police Mizanur Rahman and suspended ACC director Khandaker Enamul Basir for leaking information and taking bribe.
Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge KM Imrul Qayes passed the order as investigation officer (IO) of the case and Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Director Sheikh Mohammad Fanafilya failed to submit the report yesterday. The anti-graft body on July 16 filed the case with its Dhaka district coordination office-1 under the Money Laundering Prevention Act. Both the officials were suspended from their respected agencies after the allegations of taking and giving bribes were lodged against them. Mizanur leaked a couple of audio clips, saying he has given Taka 40 lakh as bribe to ACC director Khandaker Enamul Basir to suppress the graft allegations brought against him.
Two policemen testify in Holey Artisan attack case

Two policemen yesterday testified before an anti-terror special court here in a case lodged over 2016 terrorist attack at Holey Artisan Bakery in capitals Gulshan area.
The witnesses are Sub-Inspector (SI) Monirul Islam and Constable Ziaur Rahaman. After their testimonies, the defence cross-examined them.
Judge Md Mujibur Rahman of Dhaka Anti-Terrorism Special Tribunal after that adjourned the hearing till October 14. A total 110 witnesses so far testified in the case.
Militants killed 20 innocent people, most of them foreigners, in the grisly attack at the cafe on July 1, 2016. Two police officials valiantly laid down their lives while trying to save people there. Later, five militants were killed in a commando operation. Police filed the case under the anti-terror act with Gulshan Police Station. The trial initiated on November 26, 2018 by framing charges against the eight accused-Jahangir Alam alias Rajib Gandhi, Rakibul Hasan Regan, Rashedul Islam alias Rash, Sohel Mahfuz, Mizanur Rahman alias Boro Mizan, Hadisur Rahman Sagar, Shariful Islam and Mamunur Rashid.
