Removal of RU Pro-VC demanded

Students of Rajshahi University (RU) demanded removal of Pro Vice-chancellor Prof Chawdhury Zakaria following the audio clip of conversation, where his alleged involvement was found in fixing money to recruit a teacher.

Prof Zakaria made a phone call to wife of a lecturer candidate of law department and allegedly tried to fix the amount of money for the recruitment.

The clip of a conversation went viral on social media from Monday night.

Criticising the clip, different organisations and personalities gave posts on their respective Facebook walls.  Pro BNP teachers forum, white penal, it student wing Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, different left leaning student bodies, Quota Reformation Body, ‘RUCSU Andalan Mancha’ also launched different programmes yesterday.

At least five spokespersons from three student organisations -- Bangladesh Chhatra Federation, RUCSU Andolon Mancha and Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Odhikar Sangrakkhan Parishad, met the VC Prof Abdus Sobhan, around 2pm and placed their demand.
