Bar council toughens for exam registration system

Bangladesh Bar Council authorities have decided not to give registration card for the enrolment examination to students who have not followed the council’s rules and regulations during the completion of their graduation.

They issued three circulars clarifying the matter on Tuesday.

According to the circulars, the registration cards will not be given to students who have not completed their course duration properly and foreign law degree holders who have not completed A level after O level. The council would also not allow over 50 students from a single semester from a private university.

Bar Council secretary Md Rafiqul Islam yesterday said the three circulars were issued in line with the council’s decision taken at a meeting on September 21.

Rafiqul, who is a senior district and session judge, said they found that some students had applied for re-registration even after the cancellation of their registration due to irregularities in completion of their studies and other problems.

In its circular, the council authorities said that the students who have completed a law degree without completing A level after O level and short course duration even after not having approval from the University Grand Commission (UGC), would not get registration card to attend in the enrolment examination.
