One more died of dengue, a mosquito-borne disease, in Magura district yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Nazmul Mullah, 30, son of Rashid Mullah from Magura sadar. He passed away while being taken to the capital for better treatment.
“Nazmul was admitted to the Magura General Hospital on Friday initially. When his condition deteriorated, he was referred to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH),” said Dr. Shawpan Kumar Kundu, director of Magura General Hospital.
He said Nazmul breathed his last while being taken to the Dhaka for better treatment early morning yesterday.
Meanwhile, the number of dengue patients admitted to different hospitals across the country has shown a downward trend.
A total of 336 dengue patients were admitted to various hospitals across the country in last 24 hours. Among them, 102 were admitted to various hospitals in the capital while the remaining 234 people to hospitals outside the capital.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) control room, in a press release yesterday, said the 1460 patients currently undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals across the country.
In total, 524 patients are currently receiving treatment in 41 government and private hospitals in the capital with the remaining total of 936 patients undergoing treatment outside the capital.
As of today, the number of recorded dengue patients this year has hit 88,660. Among them, at least 52,636 were hospitalised in August alone, the data showed.
A total of 86,964 patients have already been released from hospitals following their recovery.
About 98 per cent of the dengue patients, admitted to different hospitals across the country, were released from hospitals after treatment, according to health officials.
However, the DGHS has so far analysed 136 out of 236 cases of death and confirmed 81 deaths to have been caused by the mosquito-borne disease.
