Awami League (AL) Advisory Council Member Amir Hossain Amu yesterday said no anti-liberation person should be allowed to join AL.
“AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is strict to maintain party discipline. The rebel candidates in the upazila election have already been expelled from the party,” he said.
A decision has also been taken about the ministers or members of parliament (MPs) who worked for the rebel candidates, Amu added.
The AL leader came up with the remarks while addressing the inaugural function of the campaign for collecting new members and renewing old members of the party at Nalchity municipality auditorium here.
Nalchity upazila AL organized the programme with its president and municipality Mayor Taslim Uddin Chowdhury in the chair.
Amu said the Prime Minister has cleared the strict stance of the party about drug abuse and corruption by announcing ‘zero tolerance’ against the menaces. “So, congenial and healthy environment should be created in the party,” he added.
