A suspected mugger was killed and another injured in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members in the capital’s Hatirpool area early yesterday. The deceased was identified as Shoshan Mitra, 42, son of KanailalMitra. Superintendent Mohiuddin Faruki, Company commander of Rab-2, said three muggers coming in a motorbike snatched a bag from a man in front of Lab Aid Hospital around 12:45 am. On information, a patrol team of RAB chased the motorbike. When the motorbike reached Hatirpool area, the elite force members asked them to surrender but the muggers opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back.
