BAIUST holds orientation of Fall-2019

The orientation programme for the newly admitted students of Fall-2019 semester of the Bangladesh Army International University of Science and Technology (BAIUST) was held on Sunday at its auditorium. Registrar Colonel Suman Kumar Barua delivered welcome speech and disseminated vision and mission of the BAIUST journey, said a press release yesterday. Acting Proctor of the university Abu Shofiuan Mohammad Taj Uddin, Transport Coordinator Mahfuzur Rahman, Assistant Provosts Mohammad Robaitul Islam Bhuiyan and Dipannita Kundu Rumki, Assistant Librarian Md. Habibullah, Deputy Treasurer Jafor Ahmed and all heads of the Departments took part programme. A number of academic and administrative issues were discussed in the ceremony. Respective deans and faculty members of different disciplines were present on the occasion. Lecturer of English Department Habibur Rahman moderated the programme.
Seminar on ‘child rights’ held at IU

A seminar titled ‘Child rights in Islam and in the United Nations’ was held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Monday. IU Al-Hadith and Islamic Studies department organised the seminar at the conference room of the university’s Arts Faculty building around 12:00pm. IU Theology Faculty dean Professor AFM Akbar Hossain addressed the seminar as the chief guest while Al-Hadith and Islamic Studies department Professors Syed Maksudur Rahman and Jakir Hossain delivered speech as the discussants with the departmental chairman Professor Ashraful Alam in the chair.
Malaysian High Commissioner calls on DU VC

Malaysia’s Acting High Commissioner to Bangladesh Amir Farid bin Abu Hasan called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman at his office on the campus on Sunday. He was accompanied by former Prof of Malaysia Sarawak University Dr Zin Zawawi Zakaria, said a DU press release. During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest and exchanged views regarding the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programmes on palm oil, rubber, water, soil management, environment and other arenas among the DU and Malaysian universities. DU VC Akhtaruzzaman said an excellent friendly relation has been prevailing between Bangladesh and Malaysia for long time. Amir Farid said his country is interested to work together with Bangladesh in various sectors including education. He informed that Malaysian Prime Minister is expected to pay a visit to Bangladesh in early next year to attend a gala programme marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The envoy sought a programme for Malaysian Prime Minister at Dhaka University during his Bangladesh visit. Akhtaruzzaman assured the Malaysian Acting High Commissioner of chalking out a programme for Malaysian Prime Minister through discussion with concerned authorities. “We will be happy to welcome the Malaysian Prime Minister at Dhaka University,” the VC added.
