Barishal Metropolitan Police (BMP) in a drive on Tuesday arrested three persons for snatching money and mobile phone by blackmailing polytechnic students from their mess in Ichhakathi area of the city. Moktar Hossain, deputy commissioner (north) of BMP, at a press briefing at his office disclosed this fact. The DC of BMP said a group of criminals snatched five mobile phones and cash Tk 1,000 after beating up
four students of Infra Polytechnic Institute from their renting flat when they were playing Ludu inside their room. The matter was informed to police on the same night and police detained suspected Salman Mridha, 21, from the area and started interrogation. Later police detained Partha Devnath Anik, 21, Maruf Khan, 22, from Ganopara area on the same night.
Police also recovered the snatched mobile phones and looted money. Md Rezwan, a student of 5th semester of Infra Polytechnic lodged a case with Barishal Airport Police Station on Monday and the arrestees were sent to jail, the police official added.
