Minister visits city protection dam

State Minister for Water Resources Zahid Faruk yesterday visited Rajshahi city protection embankment as development works has been carried out recently. Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, accompanied the state minister during his visit.
Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) has implemented the uplift project to protect Rajshahi metropolis from erosion by the river Padma. On the occasion, the state minister was informed that the work on 4.905-kilometer river embankment protection and three groin or spars rehabilitation was executed under the Taka 268.
17-crore project that will protect more than five kilometers area from Bulanpur to Sonaikandi in Rajshahi city from erosion of Padma River. The bank of the Padma River has got a new look following implementation of development scheme.
The state minister also went round the T-groin that belongs to the Rajshahi City Protection Project. Additional Secretary of Water Resource Ministry Mahmudul Islam, Director General of Bangladesh Water Development Board Mahfuzur Rahman, Chief Engineer Muhammad Ali and Superintending Engineer Amirul Haque were present on the occasion.
