UGC secretary made OSD over graft charge

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has taken stern action against its secretary Md Khaled making him Officer on Special Duty (OSD) for his alleged involvement in corruption and moral turpitude in the process of recruitment. Sources said that Khaled had his presence in a UGC recruitment process including question moderation and marking when his own daughter was also applied for jobs in the UGC.
But as per rules, if any candidate of the UGC officers applies for any jobs in the UGC, the officers have to be disclosed it. Then those officers would not be given any responsibility regarding the recruitment process. But Md Khaled hid the information of his daughter, who also applied for the post Assistant Secretary, sources said.
UGC came up with the decision of making Khaled OSD at its 156th full-commission meeting on Tuesday and the Commission yesterday issued an office order in this regard signed by UGC joint secretary (admin) Zafor Ahommad Jahanger. As per order, Md Khaled has to report to the UGC chairman during his OSD period.
