Fabio Lopez, national team head coach, has got all his players on Sunday to start his training camp in full swing ahead of the World Cup qualifying away match against Tajikistan to be held on November 12.
Although the coach had already started the practice session from October 28 with 20 players, as rest of the players of his preliminary squad were busy with the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup football tournament in Chittagong.
The practice session is now going on at the Artificial Turf ground, adjacent to the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Bhaban.
However, among the 30 players, Atiqur Rahman Meshu, one of the premier performers of the national side, despite joined in the camp, could not participate in the practice. He missed the training due to injury which he suffered during the semifinal match in the Sheikh Kamal International tournament.
Meshu, who has been playing a vital role in the national side, while talking to The Independent while watching the practice, said that though it was not a major injury but it prevented him from taking part in the practice.
“I had the injury during the semifinal match against Afghan team but I had to play the final with pain and it has become something difficult for me to do practice. It will take at least four to five days to recover. I also think it would be not wise to play with injury in the national side.”
About the team combination as the players could not start the practice session altogether, Meshu said, “I hope that it would be not be any problem for us as for a long time we have been playing together, we know each other very well and we have good understanding among us.”
“Right now the fitness level of the players is good enough, as I think more or less all the players on play.”
“Actually, every next match in football is new, what happened in our home ground we have just forgot it, we will have to make it afresh. If everybody would be motivated and execute coach plan, I hope the result would be certainly good,” Meshu replied to a query.
