Bangladesh iconic all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan said the way the big teams play against the minnows they want to play and win against Zimbabwe in the same manner in the upcoming home series.
“We have been playing well against them since many days. We have still that thinking in our mind. In this series, our target will have to dominate them,” said Shakib Al Hasan yesterday.
“The challenge is gradually changing day by day. As we have been playing well against them this time we want to win in dominating manner as like as the way the big teams play against the minnows,” Shakib told media after the practice session at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
“As we have played quite a better cricket throughout the year we also want to do well in the last series. We have also confidence to do it. I think if we could perform well against them then it will be the most successful year in terms of cricket. All we are focused on the series, where we will play three one day and two Twenty20 international series,” he added.
The ace all-rounder said that there is no uncertainty with cricket in the country and it is not happened in the past, even it will not happen in future.
“It’s a great thing that the series is being held. Zimbabwe made a big help for us in this time because a country postponed a series showing security concern. Thereafter, it was a big matter for us to make a tour by a team here,” the left-handed all-rounder thought.
“I think there is no concerning issue regarding cricket in the country. In that sense, I am very happy that Zimbabwe has come here. I believe that there will be no problem regarding cricket. No problem emerged in the past and it will not be happened in future also,” he claimed.
About Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Shakib said that he will try to give his best possible performance for Rangpur Riders.
“My gratitude will be for Rangpur (Riders) because they took me by their first calling. I have yet to meet with them directly but we talked each other few times. Apparently, our main target is to finish the series against Zimbabwe properly,” the 28-year-old singled out.
“I have nothing to say any special thing for other teams as the matter has been finished by lottery. As a professional cricket, my work is to play. So, I will try my best to play and bring success for the team,” the south-paw, who will be seen to lead Rangpur Riders in the Twenty20 tournament, said.
Shakib went to USA to be with his expected wife, Umme Ahmed Shihir, who is expected to give birth their first child on November 21 as per the gynecologist. He joined the team’s practice session for the first time with other final squad members.
“I’ve missed the initial three practice sessions. But I was in a big vacation of 20-25 days. And so, I enjoy today’s practice session after many days,” the left-arm spinner-turned-batsman opined.
“My wife’s help in this regard was more important because she told me to come back in Dhaka. You may come if any emergency unless you will come at your normal time,” Shakib said, adding “I always talk with her. She is also quite well. There is nothing to be worried. It will be better if I could go after finishing the series.”
