Death of woman, daughter in arson attack
Main accused killed in RAB �shootout�

The prime accused in the sensational Jhenidah arson attack case, where a woman and her daughter were burned to death over dowry, was killed in a shootout with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Jhenidah early yesterday. RAB also seized a foreign made pistol from the mans possession.
The deceased was identified as Abul Kamal Hossain, 28, son of Babul Hossain of Lebutola village under Jessore district.
RAB-6 company commander Mohammad Suruj Mia said a petrol team was on duty at Koroitola in Barobazaar of Kaliganj upazila yesterday night. Abul Kamal Hossain was passing by and the team asked him to stop for a search.
But he tried to flee from the scene and also shot at members of the RAB. The law enforcers then shot back in self defence. Kamal got hit by bullets and died on the spot, the RAB official said. RAB seized a foreign made pistol from the spot.
Later, local police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to sadar hospital morgue for autopsy. A case was
filed with Kaliganj Police Station over the incident.
A woman and her daughter were burned to death and two others of the family were injured as a group set fire to their house after pouring petrol, allegedly over dowry, at Farashpur of Kaliganj in Jhenaidah on October 20.
Kaliganj police sources said Abul Kamal Hossain was the main accused in the sensational arson attack and murder case over the death of a mother and her daughter.
