Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday asked Finance Minister AMA Muhith to reslove the issues related to pay scale of the university teachers and other education cadre officials.
Sheikh Hasina conveyed this to the finance minster during yesterdays cabinet meeting where Muhith informed the progress on
the pay scale proposal of the university teachers and other teachers of different schools and colleges. Muhith informed the prime minister that the public university teachers have agreed to meet him on the matter soon to resolve the issues.
On Sunday, after a meeting of a cabinet committee, the finance minister announced that the facilities in existing pay scales and other benefits for government officers would remain unchanged.
The cabinet committee on salary discrimination held its first meeting on Sunday to discuss and review the disputed issues of the Eighth National Pay Scale.
Officials of different cadres, including university teachers, are waging a movement demanding restoration of time scale and selection grade.
On September 7, the government approved a new pay scale for its employees with a highest basic pay of Tk 78,000
and a minimum of Tk 8,250, allowing an across-the-grade hike ranging from 91 to 101 per cent.
