BCL leader, DU student held

A senior vice president of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit and an activist of BCL Dhaka University unit were arrested for cheating in JU admission test of the Drama and Dramatics department.
The arrested were identified as Anwar Hossain, a student of the 35th batch of the Bangla department of JU, and Joni Rahman, a first year student of the Mass Communication and Journalism department of DU.
On–duty teachers of the examination centre---Prof ATM Shawkat Hossain of the Geological Science department, Prof Delwar Hossain and Prof Sudip Paul detected Joni Rahman to be  giving proxy for an admission seeker, named Sanaul Islam,  in the Drama and Dramatics department admission test.
Later the teachers filed a complaint with the proctor’s office against Joni Rahman and Anwar Hossain for helping them in giving proxy for  admission seeker Sanaul Islam breaching the code of conduct in the examination.
The written complaint states, the teachers caught Joni when they found that photograph of the admission seeker in the admit card did not match with Joni’s.
Later, Anwar Hossain tried to snatch Joni when security office and on- duty BNCC members kept him detained.
Meantime, Bangladesh Chhatra League central committee expelled the accused vice-president Anwar Hossain for life term, JU BCL unit secretary Rajib Ahmed Rasel confirmed this.
Detained Joni said that he had sat for proxy examination of admission seeker Sanaul following a deal of Tk 50,000 with Mahfuzur Rahman Emon, organising secretary of the Sergeant Jahurul Haque hall unit of BCL.
JU Proctor Prof Tapan Kumar Saha said that the detainees were handed over to police and a case would be filed with Ashulia Police Station against them and the gang they belonged to.
