Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) awarded 94 individuals and organisations in recognition of their outstanding performances in the field of outsourcing.
The “BASIS Outsourcing Award 2015” was given under five categories—outsourcing organisation, individual freelancer, district-wise freelancer, female freelancer and startup companies.
This year, top 58 freelancers and IT entrepreneurs from 64 districts were awarded. There are eight awards went to individual freelancer category, while three awards went to female outsourcing professionals. Some15 companies got recognition for their contribution in the outsourcing sector. Also 10 startup companies were honoured in a newly introduced category.
The award giving ceremony, organised by Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), was held at the Institute of Diploma Engineers auditorium in the capital yesterday.
State Minister for Finance and Planning M A Mannan handed out the awards as the chief guest.
“We achieved the rights of our land in 1971. Now, we are spreading our domain in the sky. It is you, the winners today, who are in the winning game. It is time to say “Yes” to Bangladesh,” Mannan said.
Najrul Islam Khan, secretary, Ministry of Education, said: “In our country only 8 per cent student achieve technical education annually. To boost ICT education a budget of Tk 17,000 crore has been allocated to build ICT schools in most upazilas”.
BASIS president Shameem Ahsan, who presided over the ceremony, said BASIS has been giving the award since 2011 and the move of awarding has been taken to encourage everyone in the country in outsourcing field.
The winners got the awards for their contribution in web application development and programming, mobile application development, SEO and online marketing, web design, graphic design, and online blogging and content development.
