Shovon resigns from DU senate

Former Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) president Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon has resigned from Dhaka University (DU) senate.
Chhatra League office secretary Ahsan Habib and Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) member Rafiqul Islam Sabuj submitted a resignation letter to Dhaka University (DU) Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof M Akhtaruzzaman, also the president of senate, on behalf of Shovon around 4pm yesterday.
With the resignation letter, Shovon said he cannot perform anymore as a senate member because of personal problems and urged the senate president to accept his resignation. Meanwhile, DU VC Prof M Akhtaruzzaman has confirmed The Independent that he has received the letter around 4.15pm. “Necessary steps will be taken as per the rules,” he added.
